She was the senior partner of Bassel & Wilcox, PLLC from 2005 to 2013 and the senior partner of the bankruptcy section of Law, Snakard & Gambill, PC in Fort Worth, Texas from 1987 to 2005. She also served as law clerk to the Honorable John Flowers, United States Bankruptcy Judge in Fort Worth, Texas from 1981 to 1982.

B.S.F.A. from Texas Christian University in 1976, graduated Summa Cum Laude.

Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Texas School of Law in 1981, with top honors.
